Let's Get Personal (Armpit Edition)

So as most of you know I am a gogo dancer, and that means wearing loads of sleeveless shirts. One problem I have with that is that my armpits (shaven) are a few shades darker than theyre supposed to be. Now I'm not exactly sure what causes this but apparently it can range from numerous reasons. So I googled a way to resolve it, and here's some tips I found:

  • Avoid excessive use of deodorants and perfumes products containing alcohol. This may further lead to discoloration and darkening of armpit. If you do apply wash your armpits before bed or when you are at home. If possible use alcohol free deodorants.
  • Avoid tight clothing as your skin may get irritated due to friction which further leads to darkening. Avoid polyester or synthetic clothing, wear loose cotton clothing instead.
  • Excessive weight or obesity might cause friction within the skin around armpits which will further results in dark armpits and another condition called Acanthosis Nigricans . So try to loose weight as much as possible.
  • Maintain your hygiene. Clean and exfoliate your armpits on regular basis. This will help to remove the impurities and dead skin cells which cause your skin look dark.
There are several home remedies suggested by experts which might help to get rid of dark armpits. If you follow these tips on regular basis you may be free from dark armpits.
  • Rub your armpits with a slice of lemon on regular basis. Remember, lemon may dry out your skin so use one of your favorite moisturizer on your armpits. This will help maintain the moisture while softening and lightening your armpits.
  • Make a paste using a pinch of turmeric powder, a tsp of cucumber juice and a tsp of lime juice and apply the paste. Leave the paste for around 20-30 minutes then rinse.
  • Make a mixture of lime juice and plain yogurt and apply it to your skin. Leave the mixture for around 20-25 minutes then rinse.
  • Make a paste using sandalwood powder and rose water. Then apply the paste to your armpits. When the paste dries out, rinse thoroughly.
  • You can also make a paste using dried orange peel powder and yogurt and apply over the dark underarms. This will also help remove black armpits.
  • Potato is also considered as having natural bleaching properties. You can use potato juice over your underarms to lighten it.
  • Baking soda is also thought to be one of the remedies for dark underarms. You can gently massage the darkened area with baking soda on regular basis.**

Go-go Girl

I know its been a nice minute since I've posted something, but every weekend I have been super busy gogo dancing and job hunting. One morning though my little sister was snooping around my room and accidentally broke one of my favorite mirrors. Though I was mortified, I made the best of the situation and took these awesome pictures. I feel like the broken glass gives these pictures a more interesting composition and provides great closure. What do you think?

Moving on, I will provide you with my gogo dancing outfit of the day. Youre welcome to leave any type of commentary, albeit negative or positive. Have a great day!

My Art

Not many people are aware of my infatuation with silk screening. Because of my absence of funds for equipment I havent really produced much, but I will let you see some old stuff. Enjoy!

Since I cant really print much now I guess I will just upload some sketches from my drawing book, and ideas on how I would print them if I could.

The Cools

Recently I was contacted by a young woman who took interest in my blog. She asked if I was interested in being part of a new site called The Cools. Of course, my curiosity getting the better of me, I instantly agreed. So far the site is extremely exceptional, and I like viewing all the different styles. You should check out my profile: http://www.thecools.com/#!/profile/index/790

Bandana-rama

Loads of friends are always asking me, "Where do you get ALL of those printed headbands??", and I have never understood what they meant until the other day. ITS NOT A HEADBAND, its a bandana! I have this bandana that is my absolute favorite, and I usually roll it up and use it as a headband. I have loads of other bandanas, which I usually buy from either a Wal-mart or a drugstore.

[Little sister in the background hahaa]

What I usually do to the bandana is fold it into a triangle. Then, starting at the pointed side, I roll it in. I then tie it to my forhead and push it back. Then I tuck the loose ends under. Maybe on another post I will demonstrate...

Pump, er Wedge, It Up

I have officially fallen for these odd little shoes called wedges. They're basically the love child of a platform shoe and a bootie. Here are a few examples, my personal favorites, at "to die for" prices:

[Tenley Lace-Up Wedge Boot: Payless : $29.99]

[American Eagle Devin Wedge Oxford: Payless: $29.99]

I will try and remember to post a picture of the pair I choose to buy. I may even buy more than one pair!

Kreayshawn

Apparently there is a new rapper in town, and its causing quite an uproar because 1. SHE is a GIRL, and 2. She's WHITE!! Not many caucasion rappers are accepted into the rap world (minus Eminem, of course) and definently not girls.

She is also not your typical girl rapper. She doesnt rap about makeup and expensive brands- she gets down and dirty to the nitty gritty stuff you only hear the guys talk about. She ancourages girls to be loud, and obnoxious because she doesnt want any "quiet b!@%&es on her team".

Kreayshawn (born Natassia Gail Zolot) was born in Cali. She moved from San Francisco to Oakland. She is a part of what she calls "The White Girl Mob" consisting of her and two friends, V Nasty and DJ Lil Debbie. She has two very popular hits out- Bumpin Bumpin and Gucci Gucci.

New Haircut

Recently, the change in weather has caused me to make a drastic change in my haircut. I decided to chop it all off and sport a shorter sexier look. It would put you in the mind of a mullet type haircut. I wasnt satisfied with that, so I decided to tweak the look a bit. Last week when I went for my 2 week hair check up I decided to cut the tail on the left side of my head, and am now left with an extremely long tail on the right side. At the time it felt like the right thing to do, and I still think it was. Now I might dye it, but I am not entirely sure on the color. I will post a few suggestions, and you can pick from them. Remember that the tail on my right side will match the way/color I decide to dye my hair. Thanks so much!

Button-Ups and DIY Jewelry

Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.9

[pants: Selena Gomez for K-Mart,/shirt: IZOD/bracelet: made by a friend/ring: PeaceFest/bow: Hot Topic/ sunglasses: H&M/mirror: gift from mom]

As you can tell from my recent posts I got a haircut, but it was getting to be a bit plain. Yesterday I decided that maybe adding a longer extension to the right side would make it more unique. Sure enough it did! I continue to get compliments about how unique and pretty it is. I might dye it blonde or red, what do you think?

I have recently discovered a fondness for ornate mirrors, and picture frames. Hence the reason why I took a picture in this mirror. I cant wait until I move out so that I can furnish my own place with the most beautiful decorative mirrors and frames. <3

Stripes and Anchors

Recently the sailor look has been a big hit, and now its popping up everywhere. So when my good friend, Madeline, and I went thrifting we were lucky enough to find a sweet pair of nautical yellow shorts featuring blue anchors. Of course, this deserved an equally cute top and we settled on a blue striped tank with lace trim. And this whole outfit was under $5, talk about a steal. What kind of price steal have you came up on? Leave your comments and links to you pictures below :)

Toms vs. Sanuk

When it comes to gym shoes, or anything that resembles one I am immediatly turned off. But two types of slip on type shoes have been catching my attention lately. I have convinced myself to get a pair of each, but couldnt bring myself to buy BOTH brands. Help me choose?

Toms are the more expensive of the two, but that doesnt mean they arent worth it. For every pair of Toms you buy they send a pair to a child in need. They seem extremely comfy, and come in every shade pattern, and texture. But I am still not sure...

Sank on the other hand is cheaper. It is mainly a big time surfer brand with their shoes being made from recycled flip flops. They are comfy, durable, and super summer chic. Though the undistinguished look of them doesnt win me, they still seem just as good as the Toms.

WHICH SHOULD I BUY?!
